2015 Seven Springs Chardonnay Magnum

Certain glasses of wine are difficult to keep your nose out of. This nearly decade-old Seven Springs Chardonnay is one of them, a whoosh of fresh curry leaf, candied Meyer lemon, Macadamia nut and river cobbles that will light up lovers of traditionally-made, bottle-aged Chardonnay. Deft on its feet yet voluminous in expression, the wine boasts intense minerality that carries well to the palate, which is not so much about any particular flavors as precision, electricity and texture. A honeyed fruit quality, while ducking out of the way as the wine glides along the mouth, pops back up again in the finish to wrap a bow on this gorgeous balancing act. (September 2024)
