Damien Lapuyade, our Assistant Winemaker, is no stranger to great wine. Born and raised in the heart of Napa Valley, Damien grew up with some of the region's most respected winemakers as his boy scout troop leaders and little league baseball coaches – little did he know how serendipitous this would be for his future career! After moving to Eugene, Oregon in 2010 to pursue Environmental and Sustainable Agricultural Studies, Damien worked his first harvest in 2014 at Iris Vineyards and was immediately bit by the winemaking bug. After honing his craft for six years at Iris, he headed to UC Davis to pursue an official Winemaking Certification, then to the Land Down Under to work harvest in 2018. Today, Damien is responsible for the day to day winemaking duties at the Evening Land Vineyards Cellar in Salem. He shares a similar philosophy towards viticulture and vinification as Sashi and Raj, and we are elated to have him as part of our team.
