The 2024 Vintage: A New Expression of Gamay Noir

Gamay remains a rarity in Oregon, with only a handful of producers committed to the variety. At Evening Land Vineyards, we’ve championed Gamay at Seven Springs since its original planting in 1984, where its affinity for our east-facing volcanic soils produces a wine that balances classic varietal character with a distinct signature of place.

Produced from dry-farmed vines at Seven Springs Vineyard, our newest Gamay Noir is a focused, site-driven expression that delivers both immediacy and structure in equal measure — vivid, expressive, and unmistakably drinkable.

As gorgeously ruby red as ever, our latest Gamay Noir bottling — always a blend of three Seven Springs parcels of varying age and trellising — is alive with snappy berry fruit, sarsaparilla, blood orange peel and a touch of cigar box that recalls our basalt soils. These elements come together with grace and structure as flashes of spice propel the wine towards a zesty, mineral finish — lacking neither in tannins, so mellow and ribbony, nor freshness.
